about the artist
Rae was born and raised on the island of Oʻahu, Hawaiʻi, where her love for art began early. After studying Graphic Design in San Francisco and living in places like Seattle and Iowa City, she found her true home in the Pacific Northwest, drawn to its misty forests and rugged coastline—a striking contrast to her tropical roots. In Astoria’s historic Uniontown, she founded Hirvi Designs, inspired by the elk of the North Coast and named for the Finnish word hirvi (“deer”), reflecting the area’s Finnish heritage and the symbolic heart of her work. 🦌🌿

50% of proceeds from the Pollinator Series support the Clatsop Community College Natural Explorations Club’s Pollinator Garden Student Project in Astoria, Oregon. 🐝🌷❣️
dentalium shell earring series
This series features authentic dentalium shells, which are created by a deep-dwelling mollusk native to the cold coastal waters of the Pacific Northwest and found in PNW seabeds. These shells have been admired and appreciated for centuries for their strength and organic elegance. Each shell has it’s own unique attributes, subtle texture, and taper making every pair a one-of-a-kind celebration of native Pacific Northwest tusk shells.🦌🌿
The dentalium used in this collection is ethically and sustainably harvested and collected with care and respect for the marine environment. ❣️🌎

Every line is a labor of love drawn not with fancy tools, but simply with a laptop trackpad and bare fingers. A series of hand-drawn illustrations meant to honor the raw, rugged beauty of the Oregon and Washington Coast. Created line by painstaking line in Photoshop, each piece is a quiet homage to misty beaches, coastal skies, and the beauty that is the North Coast. With nothing but patience, pixels, and passion, these pieces were created with the intent of bringing to life the striking spirit of our region one fingertip stroke at a time. 🌲🌊🦌🌿
